'The Country Gate'
The Country Gate is hand forged out of mild steel. The steel cross
members are all hand punched, using a hammer and chisel forming lovely unique swollen joints, within which
the bars are slotted through for the Tenons, which are forged on the anvil, to be riveted over, or to hold
the point tapered vertical bars.
The Scrolls along the top are held
together by traditional steel Collars and soften the lines of the gate as it
moves into its curved top.
The Dropper this time representing a shepherds crook tied in with the cottage owners past, when she kept sheep with her former husband. The latch handle draw's the eye with
its simple lines and elegant strength.
The Country Gate
itself sits into a solid base plate, which, as was traditionally done, takes the weight of the gate. The Gate is then clasped further up by a collared steel arm.
