'The Cottage Gate'

The Cottage Gate is hand forged out of a mild steel.  The cross members are hand punched with hammer and chisel forming lovely swollen joints within which the bars are slotted.  The Tenons are formed over the anvil and riveted over to hold the square tapered vertical bars.

The Scrolled curved top is held onto the hand forged gate by two steel collars.

The particular Dropper shown in the photograph, is made from an old forged horseshoe which ties into the owners of the property who love their horses, it draws the eye with its simple lines and elegant strength and has an earthed feel to it.

The Cottage Gate itself sits into a solid base plate, which, as was traditionally done, takes the weight of the gate. The Gate is then clasped further up by a collared steel arm.
